ProgressNow Colorado mourns, remembers Sen. Faith Winter
51 days ago November 28, 2025
“Faith Winter was a trailblazer, a leader, and a friend like no other. She did more to meaningfully improve the lives of Coloradans than almost anyone in our state’s history,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “Senator Winter championed an immense list of historic legislation, from equal pay to climate justice to finding billions of dollars for transportation. Her legacy to Colorado will outlast all of us. Nobody has worked harder to uplift other women and emerging leaders as they rose themselves. The gut-wrenching loss of this titan, who loved sunflowers and called so many of us ‘friend,’ is an inestimable loss for our state and for the progressive movement.”

Trump’s Death Threats Against Rep. Jason Crow Must Be Unconditionally Condemned
59 days ago November 20, 2025
“Rep. Jason Crow is a Bronze Star war hero who exemplifies the finest and bravest of our service members,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “For Donald Trump, who dodged military service, to issue death threats against war heroes from the Oval Office is unconscionable and yet another embarrassing episode for the American people. It is unacceptable for the President of the United States to impugn the sacred service of our veterans for his own political gains.”

Coloradans Demand The Immediate Release Of Fernando Jaramillo-Solano And His Children
72 days ago November 07, 2025
“ICE briefly admitted they arrested the wrong man, but then reverted to the usual Trump policy of never admitting a mistake,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “Fernando Jaramillo-Solano is an asylum seeker with no criminal record who along with his two innocent children were snatched from the street in Durango on their way to school. The family was arrested by ICE due to Jaramillo-Solano ‘matching the description’ of another target, which is blatant racial profiling, and then held in custody even after ICE realized they had made a terrible mistake.”

Progressives Celebrate Wins For Colorado’s Kids, Democracy Nationwide
75 days ago November 04, 2025
“After nine months of Trump’s so-called ‘Golden Age,’ Americans are hurting–and that’s how they voted tonight,” said Loflin. “Trump’s promises to make life better for America’s working families have fallen flat. Trump’s loyal stooges like Rep. Gabe Evans share the blame for every child in America going hungry tonight. The call around the country tonight, from Colorado’s classrooms to California’s congressional maps, and yes, in New York City, is that everyone outside the MAGA bubble, the center and left, must unite and walk our country back from the brink of destruction.”

Conservatives Lose Blame Game As Shutdown To Save Health Care Drags On
107 days ago October 03, 2025
“Three days into the latest Trump government shutdown, the public polling is clear: Republicans have lost the support of the American people,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “After the passage of the disastrous federal budget bill, millions of Americans are facing massive increases in their health insurance premiums beginning next year–in Colorado, 28% or even higher. Even Republicans like Rep. Jeff Hurd say they want to restore the premium tax credits they voted to cut in the Big Horrible Bill. But instead of doing the right thing, Hurd is joining Trump, Gabe Evans, and fellow Republicans telling lies about what Democrats are fighting for.”

125 days ago September 15, 2025
ProgressNow Colorado, the state’s largest multi-issue progressive advocacy organization, is blasting Congressman Gabe Evans with a new radio ad for voting to delay a fee on methane pollution for 10 years, handing Big Oil a massive giveaway—costing taxpayers $7-8 billion and polluting our air while Colorado kids struggle to breathe.

Progressives Condemn Recent Acts Of Gun Violence and Uphold Peaceful Freedom of Speech
129 days ago September 11, 2025
“One Evergreen High School Student is still fighting for their life, another was shot, and the 16-year-old gunman is dead," said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. "All three were teenagers. Charlie Kirk was murdered before an audience of thousands at Utah Valley University. The Evergreen community and those in the audience in Orem, Utah will never be the same."

RELEASE: Colorado Faces Special Session To Address Trump Budget Disaster
165 days ago August 06, 2025
“There is only one reason why Colorado faces a billion-dollar hole in this year’s budget, and it’s the choices made by Republicans like Gabe Evans doing the bidding of Donald Trump and Mike Johnson,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “Trump and his cronies like Colorado’s freshman Rep. Gabe Evans have inflicted this immense pain on Colorado working families, and now it’s up to us to try to minimize the harm.”

ProgressNow Colorado and Colorado Consumer Health Initiative demand Gabe Evans stop lying
199 days ago July 03, 2025
“As nearly half a million Coloradans stand to lose their Medicaid services and see their costs rise after Gabe Evans helped design the bill to cut hundreds of millions in SNAP benefits designed to feed hungry children and families, and farmers and ranchers will see an end to their renewable energy tax credits, the harm inflicted by the Congressman from Colorado’s 8th Congressional district is unprecedented,” said Sara Loflin, executive director of ProgressNow Colorado. “It is time for Evans to stop sidestepping his constituents, stop deflecting blame, and stop lying to his district. He voted to take health care from thousands of people in his district. He voted to make children and families go hungry; and he voted to kill Colorado jobs in favor of handcuffing abuelas and children.”

Coloradans Respond To Gabe Evans’ Outrageous Defense Of Indefensible Medicaid Cuts
234 days ago May 29, 2025
“Without Medicaid, people die,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “Gabe Evans’ so-called ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ bill threatens the health coverage of nearly 1 million Coloradans and 200,000+ people in Gabe’ Evans District, including: children, seniors, and people with disabilities. Evans wants voters to believe that the people who will lose coverage don’t deserve health care, but thousands of Coloradans will fall through the cracks, and some of them will die as a result of Evans’ vote. Thousands more could lose access to care as health care providers are forced to close.”

Gabe Evans Casts Deciding Vote To Slash Medicaid Funding
234 days ago May 29, 2025
“Last night’s vote was the first real test of Gabe Evans’ integrity, and he blew it,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “For months, residents of Evans’ district begged him to step back from the brink and reject his colleagues’ plans to throw millions of Americans off the Medicaid rolls to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Because of Gabe Evans’ vote, unless the Senate intervenes to stop this madness, thousands of residents of the Eighth Congressional District will lose their health coverage. Of those thousands, some will not fit Evans’ cheap stereotypes, and those people will suffer so the wealthiest Americans can have more tax cuts. Some of them will die.”

RELEASE: Does Rep. Rebecca Keltie Speak For All Colorado Republicans?
250 days ago May 13, 2025
“Waldo Canyon. The Black Forest Fire. The Meridian Fire just last March. To the people of Colorado Springs and El Paso County, wildfire is no laughing matter,” said ProgressNow Colorado executive director Sara Loflin. “After winning her state house seat by only three votes, Rep. Rebecca Keltie should be far more sensitive to the experience of the residents she represents in the Colorado General Assembly, and more respectful of her colleagues than to suggest they have no soul. At a moment when we need cooler heads to prevail in public office more than ever, Rep. Keltie’s escalating rhetoric divides and hurts everyone, including her constituents.”

ProgressNow Colorado’s Winners and Losers of the 2025 Colorado General Assembly
255 days ago May 08, 2025
With Colorado at a crossroads due to uncertainty looming at the federal level, the 2025 session of the Colorado General Assembly concluded with wins on housing affordability, education, abortion rights, voting rights, and reducing gun violence. Lawmakers responded to new threats to funding and personal freedom from the Trump administration with a strong slate of legislation to protect the most vulnerable Colorado residents. Unfortunately, continued chaos at the federal level including Medicaid cuts backed by former state Rep. Gabe Evans in Congress could force lawmakers back to the Capitol this year to mitigate the damage. Once again, ProgressNow Colorado was proud to be on the front lines of advancing progress at the legislature this year.

Hundreds Turn Out To Demand Accountability From Absent Rep. Gabe Evans
302 days ago March 22, 2025
“We organized this event as a response to Congressman Evans’ lack of responsiveness. For weeks we’ve been asking him to host a town hall,” said Jacob Stevens, one of the residents who invited Evans to the People’s Town Hall in a hand delivered letter on March 12th. “We want him to speak to the people he represents about our concerns, especially regarding the House budget which he voted to approve. This budget will result in massive cuts to Medicaid benefits, effecting a quarter of his constituents. Those people deserve to be heard by their representative.”

Gabe Evans Sells Out Colorado Families To Donald Trump
327 days ago February 25, 2025
“Gabe Evans’ vote tonight to slash Medicaid funding and countless other vital services Coloradans depend on is a defining moment in Evans’ short career in elected office,” said Loflin. “Evans represents one of the most economically and culturally diverse populations in Colorado, and Evans’ political vulnerability in a district drawn to be closely competitive affords him no margin for the colossal error he made tonight. Evans has inextricably tied himself to the Musk-Trump brand that is already sinking in the polls, and voters will remember that Gabe Evans chose to just go with it.”

Colorado Fights Back As Trump Plunges America Into Chaos
353 days ago January 30, 2025
“Yesterday, Sen. Michael Bennet struck a blow for sanity with his incisive and devastating questioning of RFK Jr., Trump’s horrendous choice to lead the nation’s public health system,” said Loflin. “Deftly demonstrating RFK Jr’s complete unsuitability to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, Sen. Bennet appealed directly to his Republican colleagues to intervene. The question now is how Republicans like Gabe Evans can continue to unscrupulously defend Trump’s chaos and destruction?”
